Precision Inspection, Inc. is a primary standards laboratory specializing in dimensional inspection, gage calibration and repair service. Precision Inspection, Inc. was organized as a dimensional inspection service in September 1968 and operated in a 700 square foot facility in the Market Place Complex in Farmington, Connecticut. By year's end, our customer list had grown to five companies, four of which were located in the Farmington Industrial Park. A modest calibration service was started in mid 1969, which blossomed beyond the capacity of the facility by year's end.
The establishment of Tunxis Community College in the Market Place Complex forced P.I. to find a new location. After an extensive search, Precision Inspection, Inc.found a location in the Plymouth Industrial Park. Negotiations with the developer resulted in a custom-built 4,000 square foot building featuring a 2,000 square foot controlled environment and laboratory. Operations moved to the new facility in December of 1969, and a gage block calibration area was added to the rapidly expanding services offered.
Precision Inspection, Inc. has enjoyed steady growth over the years with more than 350 accounts serviced at 2005 year end. P.I.’s services are now employed throughout New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Precision Inspection offers three basic functions in the dimensional inspection area – time, equipment usage, and unbiased data reporting.
A company whose inspection department is working at capacity will purchase time from Precision Inspection to process either a rush job or increase its inspection work load.
Numerous Precision Inspection, Inc. customers have an occasional need for a particular type of inspection equipment but cannot justify buying it. In this instance; it is the use of the equipment that the customer is buying.
The third function, unbiased data reporting (independent third party referee), is used to resolve an impasse between customer and vendor concerning the acceptability of a product or component. Our concern is with the accuracy of the data provided, not who is in error.
The calibration service encompasses dimensional gauging ranging from gage blocks, optical comparators, hand-held gauges, such as micrometers, calipers, plug and rings, electronic amplifiers, etc. All calibration is traceable to the National Bureau of Standards through primary standards calibrated by interferometry. All equipment is calibrated in accordance with Mil-Std-4566A.
The repair function is the latest addition to our growing list of services. Electronic measuring units such as amplifiers, gage heads, digital readouts, etc. are our primary objective with medical repair offered to “round out” the single source-full service concept.
Precision Inspection, Inc. throughout its history has added new services as our customer requirements have indicated. The latest services planned include pressure-gage calibration and repair, along with torque wrench certification.
Precision Inspection, Inc. is a dynamic service company, attuned to the changing needs of the industry in the Quality Control Field.
